Age brings wisdom and being on my fourth child I wish I knew all the ins and outs of car seats with my first couple. Now that I have a bit more knowledge under my belt and have read a lot more car seat safety guidelines  I feel confident in recommending car seats for families. With that said, Safety 1st has been since the beginning a brand we've trusted and purchased from over the years when it came to different car seats for our children. We like the quality, safety of the seats and that they're middle of the line when it comes to affordability for families. I was sent the Elite Air + 3-in-1 car seat from Safety 1st to feature on Momma in Flip Flops.

Since we decided that we wanted my four year old to continue to stay in a five point harness for awhile longer, I read review after review, priced various seats and asked a lot of trusted moms I know about different car seats and decided for my one year old the Safety 1st Elite 80 Air + 3-in-1 car seat would be perfect.  With children staying rear facing longer the weight range was 5-40lbs and the height 19″-40″ with the forward weight being 22-80lb and height 34″52″ and then when used as a booster 40-100lb and height 40″-57″. This car seat will grow from my now rear facing one year old to when he's older and will just use a seat belt for booster use.

The seat features the side impact protection air protect around his head, which looks really big but not in the way once you get used to putting your child into this seat.  Has a steel reinforced metal frame & GCell HX patented foam for more protection, you can read even more about these safety features on the Safety 1st website. The seat is one quick latch equipped and can also be used with the seat belt, both forward and rear facing with special areas to place the belt. Has an extremely easy to adjust 10 point head rest, just pull the lever to go up and down, and easy to adjust harness straps to get that perfect fit. It's important to me to be able to adjust the straps and loosen them with ease, as I loosen them to get my child in and tighten to get the correct fit each time I place my child in his seat. The seat can also be reclined in four different position, and adjusted on the age and make of your car model. We did find that the Elite 80 Air is bit bigger of a car seat and when rear facing it leaves less room for the front seats to be reclined. Note this when you go to purchase to check with the model of your vehicle.

Besides all of the great features the Safety 1st Elite 80 Air car seat I love the overall look and comfort for my little guy. It comes with two cushions to be added for infants and the instructions visible right on the car seat, to ensure you're always installing correctly and putting your child in their seat correctly. Not only is my little guy safe, but he enjoys his car seat. He has room to relax, his head doesn't fall forward when sleeping, he has two spots for his sippy cup (that he can actually reach.)
